After nine days of intensive campaigning, DAP candidate Liou Chen Kuang, who contested in the seat for the second time garnered 1,452 votes. BN candidate Lai Meng Chong, 56, gained 5,533 votes.There were a high number of spoilt votes - 166. DAP was able to slash the majority by 481 votes, Liou Chen Kuang improved his tally by 167 votes. In the 2004 general election, Liou Chen Kuang gained 1,285 votes.

It is impossible for opposition to win as most Machap voters aren't highly educated.

Look at the Machap voters...I dare say that more than 50% are senior citizens who are computer illiterate and don't know what's actually going on behind the scenes in BN! They all depend on the BN-controlled media for news.
All hopes are not lost. The urban voters will be more aware!!! Show us what DAP is capable of during the next GE!!!
